The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements by Sam Kean is a wonderful summary of the legendary and ongoing quest in the search of new elements. The book includes many famous characters including Enrico Fermi, Watson and Francis Crick, Marie Curie, and more. The book covers their respective strides made in their fields of science (Molecular biology, Radioactivity, DNA, etc.) The book also contains a compilation of stories regarding certain elements and their special traits and disadvantages. The stories feature the elements and their historical significance with Napoleon, Franklin Expedition, and more. The book is excellent for people aspiring to be chemists or scientists in general. |
