Andrew Carnegie's role in metalworking cannot be understated. While physically he had a tremendous impact on Ironworking, steel production, and railroading, he also had a profound influence on techniques employed in those fields. Andrew Carnegie also served as an early role model of the American archetype, starting out as a poor immigrant and ending up with millions. Also, Andrew paved the way for philanthropic culture among millionaires, with his famous quote "He who dies rich dies disgraced". Andrew's come-up was based on the telegram, a new technology when he grew up. Andrew took advantage of his knowledge of the telegram and used it to propel himself into higher positions. |
